Covid-19 - A Pandemic
As Seen From a Different Perspective
This article was first published on 22 April 2020 on our old website and we are republishing it here as a lesson on perspective.
The whole world now is sinking more and more into the covid19 and its news. We at ProMission tend to take all the safety measures while staying positive.
In relation to this, I will share the article written by Mireille Abou Zeid, an NLP Master Practitioner and one of our valued therapists:
We, humans, tend to give meaning to our suffering, which is a part of our life. It helps us rise above any situation.
A lot of meanings and messages can and must be perceived by the pandemic crisis we are facing today.
- “We didn’t come into this world, we came out of it. Like a wave from the ocean”.
We are the object and the subject, and we are connected to nature and this universe. Whether this virus was directly or indirectly human-made, our universe is sick thus we are now sick too. If we do not change our behavior towards our nature, new outbreaks and epidemics will keep on appearing in the future.
- Our universe needed a break and so do we. Unfortunately, nowadays, we are always in a rush and we are not taking a break. We are so dependent on our businesses. We barely find time to be still and reflect upon the real meaning of our life. So now is the time to BE still, rethink our values, and think about things that really matter. Now it’s time to communicate with your parents and spend quality time with your children.
- Living in the now: We usually sink into the past and spend a lot of time worrying and planning our future, while nothing but the present is granted. We must only deal with what’s happening now and enjoy “Being”.
- Anxiety and fear can make us sick more than any other disease. Anxiety chooses the worst scenarios and often these scenarios are perceived by our brain as a reality. When we are in a fight, our flight mode, our immune system is inhibited, and we become sicker. So, we must always be aware of that and constantly work on reducing our anxiety through different means (music, workout, meditation, positive talk…). Never let fear take over your thinking.
- Gratitude: We care too much about materialistic things and we take simple things around us for granted (the air we breathe, home, family, friend’s gatherings…), while they’re the real things that matter. Now is the time to be in a state of gratitude for those little things.
- Compassion: This pandemic touching everyone makes us realize that we are all equal. No passport, no weapon, no money can fight this. Nations facing the same danger must push us to feel with each other and collective consciousness shall result.
In the end, we should always remember that our first enemy is ourselves (The enemy is in me), and if we do not learn anything from what’s going on now, it will all go in vain. We must transform our challenges and problems into victories.
And “This too shall pass”.
